Kusi Wawa

from Baile (Home) by The Crossing

/

about

Kusi Wawa is Quechua for "happy baby." Quechua is the language of the Andes Mountains, where my youngest child, Isaac, was born. Isaac joined our family when he was 10 months old, and we named this tune in honor of him. It was meant to be a lullaby but turned out to be a jig, befitting of Isaac's would-be naptimes. As you listen, close your eyes and picture a round little Peruvian bouncing in his crib when his mother thinks he is sleeping. -Jennifer
